Trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors.

Prop firm trading risks

Prop firm challenges require payment of a fee with no guarantee of receiving a funded account. The majority of traders who purchase challenge evaluations do not pass. Challenge fees are generally non-refundable unless a specific firm offers a retake or refund policy.

Funded accounts operate under strict rules including drawdown limits, daily loss caps, and consistency requirements. Violation of any rule typically results in immediate termination of the funded account and loss of unrealized profits.

Industry risks

The proprietary trading firm industry is largely unregulated. Firms may change rules, modify payout structures, increase fees, or cease operations without notice. PropCatalog maintains a closed firms tracker documenting historical closures, but past stability does not guarantee future operation.

Prop firms are not banks, brokers, or regulated financial institutions in most jurisdictions. Funds deposited as challenge fees are generally not protected by investor compensation schemes.

No financial advice

PropCatalog provides comparison data and editorial analysis. Nothing on this site constitutes financial advice, investment advice, or a recommendation to purchase any specific prop firm challenge or funded account. All trading decisions are made at your own risk.

Age restriction

You must be 18 years or older (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to participate in prop firm trading.
